MOUNT JEWETT — The Mount Jewett Salutes Veterans Banner Committee will host an open house 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Veterans Memorial Club on East Main Street to exhibit the first 46 banners that will go on display later this month.
The 41-inch by 29-inch vinyl, two-sided banners have the same photo and information on each side. The banners will hang along Main Street from early May until November, when they will be taken down prior to the annual Christmas light display. The banners will be stored at the Veterans Memorial Club during winter months to help prolong their usage.
The cost of the banners is $175 each and any veteran from any branch of the military is eligible. They do not have to have served during wartime, and do not have to be a Mount Jewett resident or native. The purpose of this project is to salute those men and women who have given of themselves to serve our country’s military forces.
While there are 46 banners already produced, there is no time limit for ordering additional banners. Orders will continue to be taken and banners will be added as orders come in, committee members said. Order forms will be available and committee members will be on hand to answer questions.
Order forms are also available at the Mount Jewett Borough office on Center Street or by contacting Chuck Paar at 598-3162.
