REW ––The Hilltop and Rew volunteer fire departments joined forces Saturday night to honor members for their service at an appreciation dinner at the Rew Firehall.
Guests from area departments were Dan Burkhouse, Bradford Township VFD; Don Fowler, Lafayette Township VFD; Tom Hinaman, Lewis Run VFD; Matt Cobb and Jeff Hale, Corydon Township VFD; Eric Barber and Perry Tanner, Smethport Fire Department; Stephanie Scrivo, Derrick City VFD and 911 Center; Mike Scrivo Sr., Derrick City VFD; and Mike Scrivo Jr., Bradford City FD.
Hilltop Chief “Chuck” Dickinson introduced his department’s line officers: Tim Burkett, assistant chief; Bryan Greenman, fire police captain; and Lori Greenman, emergency medical services captain. Department officers are Burkett, president; Dickinson, vice president; Richard Beckman, treasurer; Jessica Dickinson, secretary; and Sheila Beckman, assistant secretary. These seven members also serve as directors.
Jessica Dickinson was named Volunteer of the Year. “Chuck” Dickinson received the Donald Ishman Fireman of the Year award, which was presented by Theresa “Tricky” Ishman on behalf of the family.
Auxiliary members recognized for years of service were Marilyn Miller, 57 years; Carol Thrush, 52 years; Harriett Slocum, 51 years; and Artie Lewis, 35 years.
Life memberships were presented to Cheryl Phillips, Theresa Ishman and Richard and Sheila Beckman. Also honored were Michele Ishman, 12 years; Jessica Dickinson, three years; and Bryan and Lori Greenman and Morgan Jordan, two years.
Emma Wright, Lucas Greenman, Austin Coleman, Sara Young, Devin Young and Jordan are junior members.
Rew VFD Chief Todd Burkhouse announced the following awards: Dina Gates, Most EMS Calls; Jim Karnes, Most Fire Police Calls; and Mike McConnell, Fireman of the Year.
Burkhouse also introduced the department officers: Amanda Jackson, president; Robert Perrine, vice president; Cheri Sera, treasurer; Chelsea Burkhouse, secretary; McConnell, first assistant chief; Kevin Jackson, second assistant chief; Karnes, fire police captain; Ted Zelko, fire police lieutenant; and Judy Gates, EMS captain.
Rew firefighters recognized for years of service were Carol Tracy, 49; Don Tracy, 45; Greg Burkhouse, 41; Mike Burgoon, 39; Judy Gates, 38; Dina Gates, 24; Diane Bay, 20; Dicky Yale, 20; Todd Burkhouse, 13; Scott Gibbs, 14; Chris Smith, 13; Brad Goldthwait, seven; McConnell, five; Kevin Jackson, Amanda Jackson, Chelsea Burkhouse and Karnes, four; Perrine and Zelko, three; Brent Sera, two; and Cheri Sera, one. Dave Reynolds is a new member.
