Buffalo, N.Y., man sentenced for selling heroin, crack cocaine

SMETHPORT — A Buffalo, N.Y., man who pleaded guilty Thursday in McKean County Court to drug delivery charges in two cases will serve time in state prison.

Larry J. Jones, 40, was sentenced to 18 to 54 months in prison with credit for 261 days of time. He entered his plea in one case to two counts of possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance and in the second case to one count of the same.

District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer said that on April 24 Jones delivered .33 grams of crack cocaine and .9 grams of heroin; then, on June 27, he delivered .5 grams of crack cocaine. He was under surveillance by the McKean County Drug Task Force during both sales.

Also in court, Jeremy D. Wertz, 29, of Bradford, pleaded guilty to two counts of recklessly endangering another person and summary charges.

Assistant District Attorney Ashley Shade explained that on Nov. 7 Wertz drove into the side of a Bradford City Police vehicle occupied by Officer Matthew Gustin, accelerated a vehicle in the direction of Ashley Krouse and engaged in fighting. He will be sentenced April 5.

Joseph J. Montecalvo, 30, of Bradford, pleaded guilty to charges in two cases. He’s charged in one case with terroristic threats, simple assault, unlawful restraint and possession of drug paraphernalia; and he’s charged in the second case with driving under the influence of alcohol and summary charges. Shaffer said that on June 30, Montecalvo pointed a firearm at his live-in girlfriend, hit her head on the floor and had his hands around her neck, and he possessed a marijuana smoking device. Then, on Nov. 14, he ended up in a motor vehicle accident while he was driving under the influence of alcohol and in possession of an open container of alcohol.

Daniel P. Dean, 19, of Clarion, had a McKean County case against him transferred to Clarion County. Shaffer explained that Dean, who is charged in McKean County with interference with custody of a child, is facing a case in Clarion County allegedly based on a continuing course of action with the McKean County charges. The criminal complaint filed in McKean County alleges that in August, Dean drove to Smethport to pick up a 14-year-old girl, then he took her back to Clarion without her parents’ permission.

Eric J. Page, 40, of Eldred, pleaded guilty to charges of simple assault and resisting arrest. On Nov. 5, Page injured someone by grabbing that person’s hand, and he tried to prevent police officers from arresting him by engaging in a physical altercation with them, Shade said. He will be sentenced April 5.

Jennifer L. Coldren, 37, of Bradford, pleaded guilty to one charge of access device fraud. Assistant District Attorney Jerry Grill said that Nov. 23-24, 2016, Coldren used two credit cards belonging to another person for a total of $370.02. She will be sentenced April 5.

Cathy M. Snyder, 45, of Bradford, pleaded guilty to a charge of furnishing liquor to a minor. Grill said that on Dec. 1 Snyder furnished alcohol to a 20-year-old man. She will be sentenced April 5.

Cody A. Gee, 22, of Coudersport, pleaded guilty to charges of disorderly conduct, defiant trespass and a summary charge. On Dec. 19, Gee, who was under the influence of alcohol, made unreasonable noise in the Port Allegany Sheetz and refused to leave after being told to go several times by employees, Grill explained. He will be sentenced April 5.

Kenneth T. Goodman, 32, of Kane, pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia and summary charges. He will be sentenced April 5.
