SMETHPORT (EC) — “Hometown Heroes” banners honoring Smethport area military veterans are available again.
After two recent sales, initiated by Sherry Anderson and which proved very successful, the McKean County Veterans Club on Water Street has opened a new sales campaign, led by Kristi Thomas.
The wording “Hometown Heroes” will be displayed at the top of the weatherproof banners, which measure 16 inches by 3 feet and will be displayed on utility poles throughout the borough. In addition to a photo of the veteran, who has served in a war, deployment or peacetime, the banner will also contain the veteran’s military branch of service, rank, years of service, medals and awards and name of sponsor(s).
“More than one veteran’s photo can be included on the banner,” Thomas said. “Twenty-five banners are required to place the order. The cost is $130 each, and sponsors often share the cost.”
