Lady Owls can’t keep up with DuBois

After playing well in the first half, the Bradford girls basketball team couldn’t keep it up in the second half as the Lady Owls fell to DuBois 50-31 in Wednesday’s D-9 League contest.

Chelsea DeSalve led the Lady Beavers with a game-high 16 points, with Sarah Snyder and Ashley Hallowell both finishing with 11.

Kate Huber led Bradford with 11 points, with Hannah Lary adding seven of her own.

“I thought Kate Huber and Morgan Tyger (two points) played very well tonight, one of the better games they’ve played this year,” Bradford coach Bob Hannon said. “We hung close in the first half but we just didn’t have enough in the tank to get through the third and fourth quarters.”

Bradford (2-10 overall, 0-3 NTL) will host Punxsutawney on Friday.

    NORTH TIER LEAGUE

    Port Allegany 47, Smethport 40

PORT ALLEGANY — The Lady Gators held on for a close, well-contested NTL victory on Wednesday thanks to a balanced scoring attack.

Bree Garzel (12 points), Erin Stauffer (11), and Cailey Barnett (11) all finished in double figures for scoring for Port Allegany. Barnett pulled down eight rebounds, while Stauffer dished out eight assists and Garzel added seven.

Abbey Woodard scored a game-high 21 points for Smethport.

Port Allegany (4-7 overall, 3-3 NTL) will host Coudersport on Friday. Smethport (4-8 overall, 3-5 NTL) travels to Northern Potter on Friday.

    Coudersport 76, Oswayo Valley 21

SHINGLEHOUSE — Coudersport raced out to a 29-3 first-quarter lead and never looked back, improving to 7-0 in league play with its win on Wednesday.

The Lady Falcons had 11 different players find the score sheet, with Haley Keck (17 points), Sarah Chambers (15), and Shaelyn Black (14) leading the way.

Shayla Bickel led Oswayo Valley with 14 points.

“Coudersport is an excellent team and a well-coached team,” OV coach Kelly Rice said. “Any team going against them has a tough battle in store, but I’m proud of our ladies for the job they did tonight.”

Coudersport (10-2 overall, 7-0 NTL) will visit Port Allegany on Friday, while Oswayo Valley (5-7 overall, 1-6 NTL) hosts Cameron County on Friday.
