Today is the 80th birthday of former McKean County commissioner John Egbert.
At a celebration held Saturday night at the Peacock Parlor of the Option House, Mr. Egbert reunited with his cohorts from the “New Directions Team” — Tom Causer and Clifford Lane — who took held seats as commissioners following the 2003 election. Egbert was commissioner from 2004-08.
He has also served on the Bradford Regional Medical Center hospital foundation board since 1989, and he was an active member of Continental 1 in 2009.
Mr. Egbert attended the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy from 1957-61, receiving a bachelor of science degree in engineering.
He was McCourt Label president from 1987-98, and he has done work for the Fasson Roll Division of Avery Dennison. He worked as a consultant for the Bradford Economic Development Commission during the creation and development of the Lafferty Hollow Industrial Complex in Bradford.
He has served on the manufacturers board of directors for the National Business Forms Association and on the boards of directors for the Flexographic Technical Association and the Tag & Label Manufacturers Institute.
