The Bradford varsity wrestlers couldn’t overcome a deep, talented Olean team, as the Huskies earned a 51-21 victory in Thursday’s interstate contest.
“We knew we were up against it coming,” Bradford coach Jamie Miller said. “We said we were looking for the toughest matchups we could get, so we slid most of the guys around (in the lineup). Whether it was a loss or not for our kids, we took it; we wanted to have the tougher matches.”
Olean’s victories came courtesy Nate Gabler (forfeit), Damon Liguori (forfeit), Gavin Hatch (forfeit), Nick Bierfeldt (pin), Gavin Kulp (decision), Kyle Liguori (forfeit), Brad Barton (decision), Devan Moore (decision), Patrick Walsh (pin), and Conner Walsh (pin).
Earning wins for the Owls were Tyler Thompson (pin), Dillon Keane (injury default), Hunter Gray (pin), and Nate Gehm (decision).
Some recent roster upheaval has Miller toying with some of his lineup combinations, with the focus on getting his team ready for postseason matches.
“It’s just about getting our guys ready for the postseason,” he said. “But any week we can take a win in a dual-meet, that’s fine too.”
Bradford (3-2) will visit Sheffield on Tuesday.
