ALLEGANY, N.Y. — A performance by the region’s preeminent chamber music ensemble and a special buy one, get one free ticket promotion will make for a warm and cozy combination when Buffalo Chamber Players performs its “Dreams and Prayers” program at 3 p.m. Jan. 21, at St. Bonaventure University’s Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts.
This is the fifth concert in the Friend of Good Music’s 2017-18 performance season.
In “The Dreams and Prayers of Isaac the Blind,” Argentinian-born composer Osvaldo Golijov channels the spiritual life and writings of Isaac the Blind, the 12th century Kabbalist rabbi of Provence.
Buffalo Chamber Players is the ensemble-in-residence at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo. It presents innovative music programs performed by the region’s finest musicians. The ensemble’s mission is to challenge, redefine, and enhance the public’s perception of chamber music while promoting the city of Buffalo as an inspiring place to live, work, and play.
Formed in 2007 by Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra violist Janz Castelo, the ensemble comprises members of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and other distinguished area musicians. The ensemble’s critically acclaimed concerts explore historical chamber music masterworks and works by living composers.
