The Guidance Center held its annual board dinner meeting on Tuesday at The Bradford Club. Employees were honored for their length of service in providing mental health, intellectual disability and prevention services to the community.
Edward Mialky, executive director, recognized Luanne McMakin for her 35 years of service. McMackin is currently the program director of Project RAPPORT, Parents as Teachers and Big Brothers Big Sisters, serving McKean, Elk, Cameron, Potter and Warren counties. Kristen Shontz, Kimberly Schmader, Tina Thomas, Kristine Kivari and Jayne Peterson were each honored for their 25 years of service to The Guidance Center. Several other staff members were recognized for their years of service.
Mialky reviewed the various achievements of the mental health, intellectual disabilities, education and prevention programs operated by The Guidance Center. Over 4000 individuals received services last year through the various programs offered by the agency. In addition the agency has recently begun providing drug and alcohol counseling as well as psychiatric rehabilitation services in McKean County.
