Individuals can now use a fishing pier and canoe launch at Marilla Reservoir.
At a Bradford City Water Authority meeting held Wednesday, officials said that contractor M&M Contractors of Johnsonburg has completed the project.
“A concrete pad was added to the canoe launch location of this project to alleviate concerns over the firmness of the ground surface at the launch location,” officials said in a prepared statement. “The close proximity of the water level was creating some stability issues to the original gravel and trail surface aggregate.”
Elsewhere in the Bradford area, officials announced that a 20-inch main line relocation project at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford has been completed. Chivers Construction of Fairview worked on the $447,222 project that was funded by Pitt-Bradford.
“The university was instrumental in implementing this project in order to eliminate two original water mains that the Kessel Athletic Fields had been built upon,” authority officials said. “The 12-inch and 14-inch water mains were eliminated and a new 20-inch water main installed around the perimeter of the Sports Complex.”
Meanwhile, authority officials provided an update on the Helen Lane main-line replacement project. Klinginsmith Construction has installed the new six-inch water main line. Tapping into the 12-inch distribution main and making the final service connections are underway, officials said.
Construction is scheduled to take another two weeks. The $70,530 project in Bradford Township will replace an aging, four-inch water main line, which officials say has been problematic for authority distribution crews over the last several years. There have been numerous breaks occurring in this area; the new water main will be a six-inch high density polyethylene.
The authority is also selling 205,090 net board feet of marked sawtimber and 35 cords of pulpwood on the authority property at Horn’s Passage. Sealed bids are being received until 10 a.m. Dec. 12. Also, the authority is seeking bids for water treatment chemical until 11 a.m. Dec. 12.
