SMETHPORT — A Smethport man is in McKean County Jail for allegedly strangling a woman at his residence in September.
Daniel Louis Jones, 25, of 16840 Route 6, is charged with aggravated assault, a first-degree felony; strangulation, a second-degree felony; simple assault and recklessly endangering another person, second-degree misdemeanors; and harassment, a summary offense.
According to a police criminal complaint, on Oct. 25, state police received a call about an alleged assault that had taken place on Sept. 4 at Jones’ address.
The victim told police Jones had become angry at her and choked her until she felt she would lose consciousness. And when he stopped choking her, he would yell at her and strike her before starting to choke her again, the complaint stated.
Photographs were taken of the victim at Bradford Regional Medical Center after the alleged assault, police stated.
Jones was arrested Friday and arraigned before District Judge Bill Todd and remanded to jail in lieu of $20,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in Central Court on Thursday.
