Three rebuttal witnesses were called to the stand in a very brief session this morning in the homicide trial of Stephen Stidd in McKean County Court.
Stidd, 65, is accused in the shooting death of his son-in-law, Mel Bizzarro, in January 2015, in the parking lot behind Togi’s in Bradford. Stidd has claimed self-defense.
Taking the stand today were Trooper David Ray, Cpl. James Weaver of the state police and Lt. Steve Caskey of Bradford City Police. Each were called by the prosecution to contradict testimony given by witnesses for the defense.
In total, the session lasted just over 40 minutes.
At the conclusion, Senior Judge John Cleland told the jury they were excused for the day, but to report at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow for closing statements and to begin deliberations.
