WASHINGTON — U.S. Rep. Glenn Thompson on Tuesday encouraged students in Pennsylvania’s Fifth Congressional District to participate in the Congressional App Challenge.
The challenge is a public effort to encourage kids to learn how to code, through annual district-wide competitions hosted by members of Congress for their district.
The deadline to submit an app is Nov. 1. Winners will be announced in December during Computer Science Education Week.
Talented students from throughout Pennsylvania’s Fifth Congressional District have submitted apps covering a wide array of topics. Lachlan Campbell, a student at State College High School, won the 2015 Congressional App Challenge. Campbell’s software app is called “Noodles,” and is designed to store the recipes of users and to help them discover new dishes to create. The app has several hundred users in more than 40 countries.
