Two Bradford residents were nabbed by the McKean County Drug Task Force for alleged involvement in the sale of crack cocaine in the city.
Tarence Brown Jr., 37, of 245 E. Main St., and Mary Frances Borza, 45, of 65 Lincoln Ave. Apt. 5A, were both sent to jail following arraignments Thursday.
On Wednesday, Brown conspired with a confidential informant and with Borza to sell 1 gram of crack to the informant in the area of Bank Street at about 10:30 p.m., court records allege.
Brown is charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, two counts of conspiracy to possess with the intent to deliver a controlled substance, and one count of criminal use of a communication device, all felonies; and one count of possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor.
He was arraigned at 3:58 a.m. before District Judge Rich Luther and remanded to jail in lieu of $100,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in Central Court Oct. 12.
Borza is charged with two counts of conspiracy to possess with the intent to deliver a controlled substance, felonies. She was arraigned at 4:27 a.m. before Luther and remanded to jail in lieu of $50,000 bail. She is scheduled to appear in Central Court Oct. 12.
Charges have been filed against Brown in a second case, which also occurred on Wednesday. According to online court dockets, he is charged with two counts of conspiracy to possess with the intent to deliver a controlled substance and one count of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, felonies; criminal use of a communication facility, a third-degree misdemeanor; and possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor.
As of Thursday night, he had yet to be arraigned on the second set of charges.
District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer said officers from Bradford City Police and the McKean County Detectives assisted in the arrests.
