ERIE — A Bradford man pleaded guilty Monday in federal court in a case that involved the theft of tens of thousands of dollars from Minich Electric while he was employed there.
Tyler Little, 30, entered the plea to one charge of mail fraud, acting U.S. Attorney Soo C. Song reported. Little made the plea before U.S. District Judge David S. Cercone.
According to Song, between November 2012 and September 2015, Little, who was an office manager for Minich Electric, caused a loss of $77,516.81 to the Bradford company.
Little did this by writing numerous checks to himself from the company’s business account, failing to deposit cash payments from customers — instead using the money for personal use — and using the business credit card without permission to purchase items, Song reported.
Little will be sentenced Feb. 26. Cercone continued Little on bond until then.
Song explained the law provides for a sentence of up to 20 years in prison, a fine of $250,000 or both, but the actual sentence will depend on Little’s criminal history and the seriousness of the offense.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Christian A. Trabold prosecuted the case on behalf of the government.
Little had faced five felony counts of mail fraud when he was initially charged in 2016.
According to the indictment filed at that time, Little would use a stamp bearing company owner Dan Minich’s name to endorse checks to himself.
Little’s indictment indicated he used the company credit card to buy items from Amazon, Sears and Apple such as a Kindle, a sewing machine, a “pedicure rasp” and a trail cover for a Jeep Wrangler.
