It is sure to be a gourd-eous weekend in Bradford.
That’s because Pumpkin Fest, which will coincide with the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford’s Alumni Weekend, is set to take place.
“We are hopeful people will participate in events in downtown Bradford in addition to all that is happening on campus,” said Karen Costello Pecht, one of the organizers.
Pumpkin Fest will run from noon to 5 p.m. on Main Street.
The cornucopia of activities actually kick off with a free showing of “Paranorman” at the Main Street Movie House.
Other activities through the day include hayrides, a chance to meet Mother Goose, pony rides, a bounce house, pumpkin painting, face painting, fire truck display, a performance by Studio B Dance Co., pumpkin games, Bwana Jim’s Wildlife Show, clowns and Meet U Oil Trailer, to name a few.
“Veterans Square is the place to be for kids, activities,” Costello Pecht said. “And keep in mind we will have more than 50 vendors lining Main Street.”
Costello Pecht said organizers have worked tirelessly to make this festival the place to be.
“We want Bradford to become the premier destination during Pumpkin Fest and Alumni Weekend and show off what is great about Bradford,” she said. “There will be something for everyone Saturday.”
Live entertainment includes Jim Ronan, Jason Eastman plus Lynn Kurtz, Barb Pederson and Becki Confer.
If that does not whet your appetite, then the menu surely will, Costello Pecht said.
Steak sandwiches, sausage sandwiches, curly fries, chicken barbecue, pizza, hamburgers, beef sandwiches, chicken and biscuits are just some of the savory items.
Sweet items include deep-fried Oreos, kettle corn, baked items and autumnal pumpkin treats.
“Come downtown, come on campus and check out what we have to offer,” Costello Pecht said. “We have harvested a great weekend for everyone.”
