A Johnsonburg man is in McKean County Jail for allegedly choking a woman during a domestic dispute in Kane on Tuesday.
Brett Allen Kinney, 33, of 301 1st Ave., is charged with strangulation, a second-degree felony; simple assault, a second-degree misdemeanor; and harassment and disorderly conduct, summary offenses.
Tuesday afternoon, Kane Borough Police were dispatched to a report of an assault that had happened earlier in the day. Police spoke to the alleged victim, who said the night before, she had locked all her doors and windows, but Kinney, her boyfriend, was inside her home when she woke up, the criminal complaint in the case alleged.
The two argued, Kinney grabbed her and choked her until she couldn’t breathe, then struck her several times, the complaint alleged.
Kinney was arraigned Wednesday before District Judge David Engman and remanded to jail in lieu of $25,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in Central Court Oct. 12.
Warrant issued for Duke Center woman for alleged abuse
A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a Duke Center woman who allegedly failed to appear for arraignment Wednesday on allegations involving child abuse.
The criminal complaint filed in the office of District Judge Rich Luther alleged that Alyssa Goodman, 36, of 24 Sweitzer Drive, is charged with endangering the welfare of children, a first-degree misdemeanor; simple assault, a second-degree misdemeanor; and harassment, a summary offense.
The criminal complaint alleged that Children and Youth Services had approached them regarding alleged child abuse involving Goodman and a 12-year-old boy in the month of May. The boy had a physical ailment that hadn’t been treated, and had a handprint mark on his face, the complaint stated.
The child was taken from her care, police indicated.
Goodman had been scheduled for arraignment Wednesday morning.
Charges filed in alleged home improvement fraud
A Kane man is facing charges for allegedly taking money for home improvement work, but failing to do the work.
Brandyn Bynum, 33, of 118 Janeway St., is charged with home improvement fraud, a second-degree felony; and theft by deception, a third-degree felony.
In August, a Kane man contacted police and showed them a contract he had entered into with Bynum, where he’d perform work for a total of $7,000, according to the criminal complaint at District Judge David Engman’s office. As of Oct. 1, 2016, the entire amount had been paid, but Bynum did not do the work. Efforts on the victim’s part to contact Bynum were unsuccessful, the complaint alleged.
It was not immediately clear as to when Bynum would be arraigned.
