With a 34-20 victory over Kane in its regular-season finale on Tuesday, the Bradford girls golf team capped off another undefeated campaign.
This marks the seventh straight undefeated season for Judy Abbey’s program and extends the team’s winning streak to 86 matches in a row.
Kate Huber led the way with a 39, while Elyse Godding shot 41 and Abby Zickefoose shot 46 to give Bradford the top three scores of the day.
“The girls are playing with perfect timing to get their scores down,” Abbey said. “Kate Huber has been in the 30s for the last four matches, so that’s good. That’s awesome. It’s perfect timing with districts coming.
“I’m very proud of all the girls who played this year,” she added. “They got better every time they played.”
Coach Abbey was particularly proud of seniors Zickefoose and Sophia Oliver (who shot a 65 on Tuesday). Both players are wrapping up stellar careers.
“They’ve gone their whole four years without losing a dual or tri match,” Abbey said. “For four years, they’ve played so extremely well. They’re both going to play districts this year for me. I’m definitely going to miss the two of them. They’re going to be tough to replace.”
Bradford will play for the North Penns Wood league title on Thursday, with Districts taking place at Coudersport on Monday, Oct. 2.
