It’s been three days since the beginning of the Fall season, but a step outside would seem to suggest otherwise as temperatures have averaged out at the mid 80s throughout the last week.
Normally, the Septembers in Bradford spell cool, breezy days that potentially require a sweater and long pants.
However, the recent warm weather streak has prompted folks in Bradford to keep their fall weather gear in the closet longer than expected as the summer hangs on for one more stretch.
The Era surveyed people online asking them what they planned to do with the extended period of warm weather and the responses varied.
Melissa Singh mentioned that she has been able to continue home improvement projects on her home that she had to postpone for a portion of the summer due to frequent rain.
“My coworkers and I took advantage of the great weather and walked to lunch several times last week,” Singh said. “I’m sure we’ll do the same this week.”
Jennifer Taylor said she was happy to be able to have outdoor fun with her children for a little while longer.
“My kids are currently in swimsuits playing in the sprinkler and dumping water over their heads,” she said. “Earlier today we took a walk as a family downtown and searched for painted rocks.”
Thirteen-year-old Gerid Wilmouth was enjoying the warmer weather on Sunday by playing at Callahan Park.
“School has been stressing me out a lot lately,” Gerid said. “So, I just decided I’d come to the park and just run around and tire myself out until I feel better. The warm weather really helps.”
Gerid said he was surprised by the late warm weather and wondered “where was this kind of weather all summer?”
Singh shared similar sentiments in her online post, but with a bit of optimism she added, “Better late than never I guess.”
The forecast for the next week shows much of the same, as temperatures are expected to remain high and the skies clear right up until Friday when rain is expected to cool down the city.
