STILL COOKIN’: Frances Wolfe Haight is at it again.
The Kane resident recently sent us two more of her books that she put together, and we couldn’t resist sharing this recipe from “Still Cookin’ at 83.”
The writing is credited to herself and to Grandma Jennie Shirey Wolfe.
At the end of her book of original recipes, Frances shares a recipe for “The Love Sandwich.”
“As a child, whenever I did not feel well, my grandma fixed a love sandwich for me. Or, when I had a cranky spell. She said the sandwich took the meanness out of me. Try it! So good, it is almost a dessert.
“Spread one slice of bread with butter or margarine. Sprinkle a little bit of sugar and a little bit of cinnamon on half of the bread. Fold it over and squish the edges to hold it in. Take a bite and see how good it is!! Enjoy.”
THE ALLEGHENY: The PA Great Outdoors Visitors Bureau announced a new camera that is streaming live video of the Allegheny River in Foxburg, Clarion County.
The video is part of the celebration of the mighty Allegheny, as it has been named Pennsylvania’s 2017 River of the Year.
“Now people around the world in real time 24/7 can see river conditions or just enjoy the spectacular view from the new camera located at the Allegheny Grille in Foxburg,” said John Stratiff, executive director of the PA Great Outdoors Visitors Bureau.
Also working with the bureau and the Allegheny Grille on the project are the North Central Pennsylvania Regional Planning and Development Commission, and Pennsylvania State Police Radio Network.
