If you see people walking around looking at the ground, it likely isn’t as weird as it looks.
Bradford residents may be looking for a chance to pick up a St. Bernard’s Kindness Rock — which can be redeemed for a pizza party at the elementary school.
In her first year as principal of St. Bernard’s Elementary School, Linda Cecchetti said she is trying her best to bring in fresh ideas for the school, including a Bradford city-wide scavenger hunt.
“The idea is to involve the community in what we do here at St. Bernard’s,” Cecchetti said. “We’ve had quite a few changes made to the school, and this is a good way to incentivize the community to come check it out.”
Cecchetti mentioned she picked up the idea of kindness rocks, rocks with positive messages written on them, when she was a preschool teacher at St. Joseph Catholic School. She brought the idea over to St. Bernards with an added twist — spreading them out in the city for a scavenger hunt.
One side of the rocks will have positive messages written by St. Bernard’s students, while the other side serves as a voucher to redeem at the school for the pizza party prize on Sept. 29th.
Cecchetti explained that she believes if she gets the community involved in activities at St. Bernard’s, more parents will be willing to enroll their children there.
“We have about 93 students right now, which is fantastic,” she said. “We just want to move forward and help expand this wonderful school. This is one step in that direction.”
Cecchetti added that the Kindness Rock Scavenger Hunt will be an annual event moving forward and it won’t be the only activity to come.
“There’s plenty of more fun ideas and activities to come,” she said. “Go out there and find those kindness rocks.”
