BV Mobile Shredding ran their perfect record to 8-0 Sunday afternoon at the Pitt-Bradford softball field at the Kessel Athletic Complex, defeating McHones, 11-5 and 16-9.
In game one of the Bradford Old Timers League, BV scored seven runs in the first two innings to secure the win. The good start was sparked by double by Scott Rodgers in the first and a triple by Jim Rinfrette in third.
Rodgers finished the game 3-for-3 with the double and a home run.
Travis Faulkner added a 2-for-3 effort at the plate, while Mike Alviti legged out a three-bagger.
For McHones (2-6), George Osborne was 3-for-3, knocking in two runs. Brad Rockman added a double and picked up an RBI for the losers.
BV scored 10 runs in the second inning of game two and held off a six-run McHones rally in the fifth, before adding three runs in the bottom of the sixth to pick up the win, 16-9.
Dave Confer was perfect at the dish, going 4-for-4. Mark Davis was 4-for-5, Faulkner 4-for-5 with a double and Rinfrette added a double for the winners.
Leading McHones was Dan Kloss’ 2-for-4 effort with two RBIs.
Osborne was 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Rich Quiggle, Ken Tyger, Steve Woodel and Ed Yale all added a pair of hits in the losing effort.
Earlier in the day, Sherman’s swept their doubleheader with Stroeman’s, 17-2 and 28-3.
Sherman’s (4-4) jumped out quickly in game one, scoring five runs in the first and six in the second to essentially put the game away from the start.
Bob Jimmerson, who finished the game 3-for-4, tripled and drove in two runs in the second to lead the winners.
Steve Williams (three hits), Mike Davis (three hits), Brad Craig (two hits) and Duke Haven (two hits) also performed well at the plate to lead Sherman’s.
Jim Taylor picked up a sacrifice fly RBI and Ed O’Dell singled and scored for Stroeman’s (2-6).
Sherman’s used a 13-run sixth inning to propel them to the sweep in game two. Mike Davis’ home run was the highlight of the inning. Davis finished the game going 4-for-5.
Haven, Ron Kennedy and Dave Marsh were all 4-for-5 for the winners. Williams and Jimmerson both had three hits each for Sherman’s, with one of Jimmerson’s hits being a homerun.
Taylor and Jamie both were 2-for-2 for Stroeman’s in the losing effort.
