More than $22,00 raised at CARE ‘fore’ Children tourney; score of 58 wins event

More than $22,000 raised at CARE ‘fore’ Children tournament

Golfers competed in six flights at Saturday’s CARE ‘fore’ Children golf tournament at Pine Acres with a score of 58 taking top honors in the four-member team scramble.

Matt Monago, Boo Coder, Brian Larson and Pete Pascarella, golfing in the Kids and Cancer Benefit flight were the overall winners. They finished ahead of Mike Butler, Bret Butler, Mark Smith and Zack Smith, who finished with a 60.

Brent Raabe, Eric Schenfield, Chase Farrell and Tom Vinciquera also had a 60 in the CNB Bank flight. For full results, see the Scoreboard on page B-4.

Premier and Lead Sponsors, Allegheny Bradford Family of Companies, Philo & Sarah Blaisdell Foundation, Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield and Zippo/Case Museum presented this year’s tournament, which raised more than $22,000. All proceeds benefit CARE’s free community outreach services for children with disabilities, pediatric developmental and preventative screenings, therapeutic recreation programs, child safety initiatives that prevent disabilities and fatalities from accidental injuries; and inclusive early learning programs.

CNB Bank, Marshall Insurance Services and Kids & Cancer Benefit were flight sponsors. Eight other businesses sponsored half-flights, including Aetna, Greg and Cherie Booth, Carlson Dental Associates, Bob Cummins Construction Company, Italian American Progressive Club, Northwest Bank, Sundahl & Company Insurance and Shults Toyota.

In total, more 140 donors, businesses and organizations provided sponsorships and in-kind donations of prizes and other services to support the tournament. Thirty teams comprised of 120 golfers made up the field.

Each year CARE provides distinct services to improve the lives of children of all abilities in McKean County and the surrounding region. Events like the annual golf tournament make these services and programs possible.

CARE for Children is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of children of all abilities.
