COUDERSPORT — Two York County men are facing charges after an alleged altercation at a Potter County residence.
Coudersport-based state police said Evan Tyree Shuler, 26, is charged with aggravated assault, a second-degree felony; terroristic threats, a first-degree misdemeanor; possession of a small amount of marijuana and of drug paraphernalia, as well as simple assault, recklessly endangering another, criminal mischief and harassment.
Matthew Wayne Thompson, 30, of Red Lion, is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and of drug paraphernalia; terroristic threats, simple assault and harassment.
Police said Shuler and Thompson were involved in a physical altercation, and Shuler threw a knife at Thompson and hit him with a shovel. Thompson was able to leave the scene, went to a friend’s house and was taken to Cole Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Shuler was taken into custody without incident, and police found he was wanted on a an outstanding warrant from York County. He is jailed in Potter County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail on the current charges, and held without bail on the warrant.
Thompson faces a preliminary hearing before District Judge Delores Weiss on Sept. 12.
Schuler’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 11 before Weiss.
