OLEAN, N.Y. — A Bradford, Pa., student was one of two recipients of the Ben & Rose Schwabenbauer Educational Scholarship, managed by the Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation.
The CRCF board of directors awarded the scholarship, $1,000 each, to Cara Webster of Bradford Area High School and Adam Moses of Olean High School for their accomplishments and strong educational goals.
The scholarship provides two annual scholarships for graduating seniors from Otto-Eldred (Pa.) High School, Bradford Area High School or Olean High School who will attend a four-year school. Awardees must have a 3.5 grade point average or be in the top 25 percent of his or her graduating class. Preference is for students planning to pursue a degree or career in education, law enforcement or a related field.
Ben and Rose Schwabenbauer, who established the scholarship for driven students, both taught in the Olean City School District for many years. Rose Schwabenbauer also taught in the Bradford school district. Ben Schwabenbauer graduated from Otto-Eldred high School.
Webster will attend the University of Scranton to pursue a degree in neuroscience with the goal of becoming a college professor in the neuroscience field. She is a Bradford Area High School graduate.
