The Eagles Riders Club will be hosting the annual “Eagles for Autism” Dice Run on Saturday, a charity event that seeks to help those affected by autism.
Eagles For Autism was formed in 2008 as a fundraiser by Eagle member Dick Johnston, who organized a dice run in honor of his grandson to raise money for that purpose. The idea behind it was to help local families and agencies defer some of the expenses incurred with the care and special needs of autistic children.
The event offers participants a time to come together to support those who need help with additional expenses incurred due to their special needs. Any street legal vehicle is welcome to ride in the dice run.
This year, the event will include a mini parade running from Veteran’s Square to the Tops supermarket on Main Street. There will be motorcycles, cars, and trucks for viewing as well as people marching with banners to help spread autism awareness around local communities. The event will include a Chinese Auction, 50/50 contest, and a cash bar with the highest roll winning $100 and the lowest roll winning $50.
The event is open to the public at $20 per person. The price of admission includes a chicken barbecue meal. Registration starts at 9:30 a.m. and the ride, which is expected to take three to four hours, begins at 11 a.m.
Any family in need of assistance related to autism may pick up a “Donation Request Form” at the Eagles Club. All that is asked is a reason for the request and verification of diagnosis by a physician.
After the event, there will be a musical performance by “The Inexpensive Winos” at the downstairs bar from 7 to 11 p.m. at the Eagles Club, 45-49 E. Main St.
Donations from “Eagles Supporting Autism” have helped McKean County CARE for Children and Special Olympics Bradford, as well as other organizations and families over the past nine years and they look forward to continuing the tradition.
