Bradford High names Crowley as commencement speaker

Sam Crowley, a 1986 graduate of Bradford High School, will be the commencement speaker at Bradford High’s graduation June 1.

Crowley is a speaker, author, trainer, podcast host and serial entrepreneur. His motivational podcast Every Day Is Saturday is heard in over 100 countries, with over 10 million downloads, since going live in 2006.

He left his Fortune 100 job many years ago because his oldest daughter, Madeline, used to ask him “Daddy, is tomorrow Saturday?”

He made a promise to his daughter that some day soon, every day would be Saturday — hence the creation of his global brand. Crowley’s most recent book titled “One More Breath” was published in 2016.

The book chronicles the journey of his daughter, Susan, born at just 1 pound in August 2014 and how she has defied all odds to be home with her family after 221 days in Children’s Hospital.

Crowley lives in Cincinnati, Ohio, with his wife of 19 years, Angela and their four daughters Madeline,16, Laura,12, Paige, 11, and Susan, 2.

The top career and technical education student for the class of 2017 is Jeanna Ruffner.

She is the daughter of Shannon Ridenour of Bradford. She is a member of National Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society, and serves as the secretary of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America. She is also a member of the Bradford High girls tennis team. She is employed as a classroom aide at Growing with Grace Christian Preschool and as an activities assistant at the Bradford Manor. Jeanna will be attending the University of Pittsburgh Bradford to major in early childhood education.

Giving the class of 2017 welcome address will be Emily Reams.

She is the daughter of Sean and Danielle Reams of Bradford. She is a member of National Honor Society, Student Council, Concert Band, the Wind and Jazz Ensembles, Environmental Club, and Model United Nations. She is a member of the Bradford High Cross Country and Track teams as well as community softball, basketball, and soccer. She is involved in the music and community outreach programs at The Tower, Bradford’s First United Methodist Church. Emily has achieved perfect attendance for her entire high school career. Emily will be attending the University of Kansas to major in mathematics and natural sciences.

The class of 2017 address will be given by Morgan Whitlow.

She is the daughter of John and Krista Whitlow of Lewis Run. She is a member of National Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, Student Council, Key Club, Prom Committee, Homecoming Committee, and Environmental Club. She is a member of the Bradford High Cross Country and Swim Teams as well as the YMCA Barracuda Swim Team. She volunteers as a swim coach for the YMCA and is employed as a lifeguard at the Callahan Park pool and Allegany State Park. Morgan will be attending Edinboro University to major in studio arts.

The class of 2017 farewell will be given by Cara Webster.

She is the daughter of Paul and Lisa Webster of Bradford. She is a member of National Honor Society, Prom Committee, Homecoming Committee, Environmental Club, Art Club, and Model United Nations. She is a member of the Bradford High Cross Country and Swim teams as well as the YMCA Barracuda Swim Team. She volunteers for the YMCA Kid’s Fest and Annual Campaign and as an altar server at St. Bernards Church. She is employed by the Bradford YMCA as a lifeguard, swim lesson instructor, and assistant swim coach.
