CLEARFIELD — Construction for a Route 155 bridge, in Eldred Township, is scheduled to begin next month as part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Rapid Bridge Replacement Project.
Replacement of this bridge will allow PennDOT to remove it from McKean County’s structurally deficient bridge list.
The bridge spans Newell Creek about two miles southeast of the village of Larabee.
The existing bridge dates from 1924 and carries an average of more than 2,300 vehicles daily.
Construction is expected to begin during the week of June 5 and be complete in mid-July. During this time, drivers will be directed to follow a detour along Route 6, Route 46 (Smethport-Farmers Valley Road), and Route 446 (Farmers Valley-Eldred Road).
In the event of unfavorable weather or unforeseen activities, this schedule may change.
