Girls track: Regan Johnson, Brooke McGriff triple as Lady Owls top Punxsy

PUNXSUTAWNEY — The Lady Owls (5-1) wrapped up their dual-meet season with a victory over the Lady Chucks.

Regan Johnson and Brooke McGriff both earned individual triples for Bradford. Johnson won the 100, 200 and long jump, while McGriff topped the 100 hurdles, 300 hurdles, and pole vault. Both ladies also ran in the winning 400 relay with Ashton McGriff and Payton Kloss.

Other Lady Owls finishing with individual victories were Ashton McGriff (400), Emily Little (1,600), Amanda Little (3,200), and Abby Coffman (javelin).

Bradford also won the 1,600 relay, which consisted of Logan Sunafrank, Morgan Tyger, Mikah Watkins, and Kloss.

“It was a solid overall team effort,” Owls coach Larry Stillman said. “We moved some kids around and tried some new events. We wanted to take a look at things before the district meet and we were pleased with what we saw.”

Punxsutawney got a triple performance from Sami Dyson, who won the triple jump, shot put, and discus. The Lady Chucks also got wins from Alyse Whitman (800) and Midori Bridges (high jump).

Bradford will compete in the district championships at Brookville next Wednesday.

“It’s been a real pleasant season,” Stillman said. “We’ve got a nice group of athletes. They’re very supportive of each other. It’s been a nice season and we’re hoping to finish next week with a nice performance at districts.”
