    Town-wide sales scheduled through region

The annual town-wide garage sales are coming.

Summer is approaching, and with the fairer weather comes the annual town-wide sales. Kicking off the first of many garage sales is the Roulette town-wide yard sale on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, contact Joyce from the Roulette Chamber of Commerce at (814)-203-8740.

On that same day, the Port Allegany town-wide yard sale is being organized by the Rotary Club of Port Allegany. Wednesday is the the last day to register and be on the map. Registration forms are available at the following locations: Fox’s Pizza Den, Port Pharmacy, and the Northern Tier Children’s Home Thrift Shop.

Following Roulette is the Eldred town-wide sale on May 20. The garage sale is a part of the Eldred Summer Fun Fest, an annual event for the entire town of Eldred and surrounding area. Locals are invited to have a garage sale at their home or set up on Main Street to have a sidewalk garage sale. Food vendors are expected to be in attendance as well. The Fun Fest has been expanding each year, and this year is no different with new events and attractions expected to be included

Any and all types of vendors are invited to join by contacting the Eldred Borough office at  814-225-4777.

Following Eldred will be the Bradford town-wide sale kicking off May 27. Chelsea Schwab, the manager of Main Street, gave some insight to The Era about the event. “The town-wide garage sale was popular in the past, and we’re seeing a resurgence in popularity this year,” Schwab said.

When asked about the reason for its popularity, Schwab stated, “I think it’s the consistency that keeps people coming back. Other than expanding outside of Bradford a bit, we keep things traditional. Maps are still just a dollar, it’s still on the Saturday of Memorial weekend, and list the addresses of vendors and what they are specifically selling. That way, you aren’t driving around all over the place if you’re looking for something specific. It’s really convenient,” she said.

Schwab said she expects a good turnout for both sales and customers. “Last year we had about 50 registered, and we expect about the same and maybe more.”

The weather is expected to be fair on that day, but in case of bad weather, Schwab advises vendors to “plan for the just-in-case.”

Registration for the annual sale will close May 19. Registration forms are currently available at the Tin Ceiling Gift Shop, Timeless Treasures, Michelle’s Flair for Hair, Bella Capelli’s, Wright’s Music Shed and The Main Street Outlet. To be included on this year’s map, and receive a yard sale sign, completed registration forms along with applicable fees must be returned by May 19th.
Maps will be available for $1 starting May 26th at the following locations: The Main Street Outlet, The Tin Ceiling Gift Shoppe, Wright’s Music Shed, Santo Vida, Michelle’s Flair for Hair, The Main Street Mercantile, and Bella Capelli (East Main).
All registrants will be responsible for their own set up at their location, as well as the placement and removal of yard signs. For more information contact the Main Street Manager 814-598-2646 cschwab@bradfordpa.org.

On that same day, May 27th, the Bradford Area Lions will be holding the first ever, “Junk in the Trunk Flea Market,” an open trunk car sale event that will take place from 9 a.m. to  4 p.m. at the West Branch Lion Community Club. Registrants are required to bring their own vehicle, and spaces will be available to rent. The prices to apply are $10 for a car, and $15 for a pickup truck. Registrants are advised to bring a lounge chair and a change box, and registrants keep all cash that is earned. For more information, contact the Bradford Area Lions, 814-368-7257.

The 20th annual Pennsylvania Hundred Mile Yard Sale will be taking place on July 14 and 15th. The yard sales run at various locations through Clearfield, Cameron and Elk counties in Pennsylvania. Registrants are asked to list their items for sale on the QIDC 20th annual 100 Mile Yard Sale directory for the sake of convenience. Each family in a multi-family yard sale is being asked to pay a fee of $10 to the Quehanna Industrial Development Corporation. For more information, email qidckarthaus15@gmail.com or visit www.visitquehannaarea.com.

At the tail end of the summer, on Sept. 2, Coudersport will be hosting its own town-wide sale. Information is scarce as of now. To stay updated on the event, visit www.visitpottercounty.com
