PITTSBURGH — Western Pennsylvania gas prices held steady at cents this week to $2.708 per gallon, according to AAA East Central’s Gas Price Report.
National gas prices have dropped slowly on the week. Today’s average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline is $2.39, a three cents drop from one week ago; however, it is an increase of nine cents over last month and 18 cents more than this time last year.
Pennsylvania ($2.64) is among the country’s 15 most expensive markets. Despite the high prices, Pennsylvania is among some Mid-Atlantic and Northeast states that saw prices drop on the week (-2 cents). Other states saw prices remain stable or fall by a penny or less. Compared to one month ago, a bulk of Mid-Atlantic and Northeast states are paying at least 14 cents more for a gallon of gasoline.
The lowest price in the region was in Sharon at $2.495; the highest was in Jeannette at $2.791; while Bradford’s average price was $2.690 per gallon.
