COUDERSPORT — A Lowville, N.Y., man was arrested Friday in Sweden Township on trespassing and weapon-related allegations.
Sweden Township Police filed charges of firearm not to be carried without a license, a first-degree misdemeanor; and defiant trespassing, a third-degree misdemeanor, against Mark Benedict Holtkamp, 58, court records stated.
Holtkamp was arraigned before District Judge Annette Easton and committed to Potter County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail.
Sweden Township Police reported Friday evening on their Facebook page that they, along with Coudersport-based state police, received complaints about a man who had been near Big Phil Hollow and along the highway on the east side of Denton Hill.
Officers determined that an out-of state homeless man had driven onto a private lane, trespassing, and had become locked in. He also had a loaded firearm, Sweden Valley Police stated.
Police did release the man’s name on Facebook.
Holtkamp is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing on May 11.
