SMETHPORT — A Bradford man is facing allegations that he trespassed onto a residential property Saturday night.
Kimber Leroy Lance, 72, of 61 Fiske Ave., was arraigned before District Judge William Todd on charges of criminal trespassing, a third-degree felony; loitering and prowling at nighttime, a third-degree misdemeanor; and public drunkenness and disorderly conduct, both summary charges, court records stated.
According to court records, Bradford Township Police were dispatched at 10:51 p.m. Saturday to a report of a home invasion at 334 Interstate Parkway, where they found Lance on the rear patio. Officers reported they could smell alcohol on Lance from more than three feet away, and he allegedly had slurred speech, trouble standing and dirty, disheveled clothing.
Court records stated stated that when police were interviewing him, “Lance would only state that he lived next door and that he was attempting to check on his neighbor to make sure she was ok.” He was allegedly “confrontational, and he refused to obey lawful police orders,” so police handcuffed him and put him in a police vehicle as they investigated.
According to court records, the victim told police she did not know who Lance was, had never met him and did not invite him to her home.
She had been watching television when she heard someone enter the breezeway between her house and garage and try to enter the kitchen. She then heard the person leave the breezeway and try to enter through a side door, so she called a friend, then called 911.
Lance was committed to McKean County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail, and a Central Court appearance is scheduled for Thursday.
