SMETHPORT (EC) — Chris Hoffman, Pennsylvania Farm Bureau vice-president, will be the guest speaker at the McKean-Potter Farm Bureau’s spring banquet at 7 p.m. on April 25 at the East Smethport United Christian Church.
Hoffman has served as the agency’s vice-president since 2014.
He was selected to serve on the PFB’s state board of directors in 2006 and later joined the board’s executive committee. He also serves as a director of the Pennsylvania Friends of Agriculture Foundation, a charitable organization supported by the PFB.
Hoffman owns and operates Lazy Hog Farms, a 1,400 sow farrow to wean, a 4,800-head nursery barn and a 4,400-head finishing farm located in Juniata County. He also owns and operates Lazy Chick Farms, raising 250,000 chickens annually.
The Farm Bureau is based on a grassroots structure whereby county Farm Bureaus and their leaders develop and implement policies, which are first determined at a county’s annual meeting. Policies adopted at that meeting then advance to the state level meeting to set policy for the entire organization.
Gary Isadore of Smethport is the president of the McKean-Potter Farm Bureau.
