Bradford Little Theatre is looking for actors and actresses to audition for their upcoming musical, “Godspell (2012)”.
Auditions will be held at 7 p.m. April 21 and at 10 a.m. April 22 at Togi’s Playhouse, 18 Welch Ave. in Bradford. “Godspell (2012)” is an updated version of the popular musical and explores a portion of Jesus’ life, death and followers through music, playful games and stories as well as comic timing. The book for this show was written by John-Michael Teblak, and the musical score was created by the amazing Stephen Schwartz, who also composed “Pippin” and “Wicked.”
Directing this popular musical is Eric L Van Druff from Olean, N.Y. He appeared in the first show BLT ever produced, “The Foreigner,” is a former BLT board member, and performed in a number of BLT shows, directed the music for some shows, directed others, and served in a number of other capacities for the company.
Actors ages 18 and over, with varied vocal ranges and character traits are being sought. Special skills such as voice impressions, juggling, improvisation skills, or playing a musical instrument are a plus. Those planning to audition do not need to prepare anything in advance, and they should arrive 15 to 30 minutes prior to the start time to fill out an audition form. It is important to include on the form any scheduling conflicts. Those auditioning will be taught a song as a large group and then asked to sing the song solo or within a small group. Parts will be offered within a week of auditions and rehearsals will begin early May.
“Godspell” will be performed Father’s Day weekend, June 15 to 18, at St. Bernard’s School on West Washington Street in Bradford. For more information, contact BLT via their Facebook page, or by calling producer Kristin Asinger at 814-598-8127.
