KANE — Two people suffered minor injuries in a three-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon on U.S. Route 219 at its intersection with Route 59 in Lafayette Township.
According to Kane-based state police, a van driven by Justin P. Stewart, 21, of Alexandria, Va., was traveling east on Route 59, when it approached the intersection with Route 219 and failed to yield to oncoming traffic, striking a pickup truck driven by Jeffrey D. Pengelly, 41, of Remington, Va.
The impact caused Pengelly’s truck to hit a car driven by John G. Knox, 78, of Lewis Run, that was westbound on Route 59 and stationary at the intersection, police stated.
Police reported that Knox and a passenger in his vehicle, Marjory A. Knox, 75, of Lewis Run, both suffered minor injuries and were transported to Bradford Regional Medical Center for treatment. All three vehicles had to be towed from the scene.
Stewart will be cited for careless driving, according to police.
Assisting on scene were Mount Jewett EMS, Bradford City Fire and EMS and Lafayette Township Rescue.
