DONALD COMES: It is with a heavy heart that we report RTS contributor and local horticulturalist Donald Comes passed away. (Read his obituary on page 2.)
We feel fortunate that he shared so much of his knowledge of gardening and local history with us.
MUSEUM: The Marilyn Horne Museum and Exhibit Center hasn’t opened its doors yet and talk about it has reached the ears of national opera lovers.
A reader called Sunday to tell us she was listening to a live airing Saturday from the Metropolitan Opera House in New York City.
During intermission, “The announcer talked about the Marilyn Horne Museum opening in Bradford, Pennsylvania. I couldn’t believe it — it was great.”
A grand opening and dedication ceremony is set for May 6, according to the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford’s website. The museum, which is being built in the Seneca Building, will house items Horne donated to the university.
NASA LIBRARY: NASA has just launched a new way for the public to search for photographs, videos and audio file from the agency at https://images.nasa.gov.
“The NASA Image and Video Library website consolidates imagery spread across more than 60 collections into one searchable location,” the agency states.
While it’s not every image, video or audio file NASA owns, there’s plenty to see.
“NASA Image and Video Library allows users to search, discover and download a treasure trove of more than 140,000 NASA images, videos and audio files from across the agency’s many missions in aeronautics, astrophysics, Earth science, human spaceflight, and more,” NASA explained.
New files will continually be added, too.
