A Gifford man died in a one-vehicle crash early Sunday morning in Keating Township.
Dustin Michael Schermerhorn, 27, was pronounced dead at the scene, Kane-based state police reported.
According to police, at 2:40 a.m. Sunday, a 2004 Toyota Camry driven by Schermerhorn was traveling north on Route 646, when it went out of control for unknown reasons, crossed both lanes, struck an embankment and became airborne.
While it was airborne, the car struck at house at 3303 Route 646, rolled over several times and came to rest overturned. Schermerhorn was not ejected from the car, police stated.
The investigation is ongoing.
