PORT ALLEGANY (EC) — The 2017 Star Hose Fire Co. #1 firemen’s banquet was held on Saturday night at the Port Allegany firehall.
Master of ceremonies was McKean County 911 Center Director Andrew Johnson, who welcomed the group of firefighters, auxiliary members and guests in attendance. The blessing was given by chaplain Mike Culver.
Greg Agosti was the guest speaker of the evening. He is the fire marshal supervisor for Pennsylvania State Police Troop C.
The following officers were recognized during the banquet: Charlie Guncheon, president; Dave Hobbs, vice president; Karen Hobbs, secretary; Tom Johnson, treasurer; and Michael Johnson, financial secretary.
Auxiliary officers were also recognized: Janann Crawford, president; Janet Lilly, vice president; Debbie Eaton, secretary; and Karen Bowers, treasurer.
Service awards were presented to Auxiliary members by Janet Lilly and Lisa Johnston. Receiving five year service awards were Richard Lewis and Kevin Crawford; 10 years of service went to Lisa Johnston; 35 years of service went to Caroline Archetto and Peggy Stahlman; 40 years to Ruth Johnson; and 45 years to Connie Brundage. Lifetime members are Jayne Pritt, Karen Bowers and Janet Lilly.
Also recognized at the banquet were Fire Chief Fred Roys; Deputy Fire Chief Kevin Ernst; Assistant Fire Chief Michael Johnson; captains Alex Johnson and Andrew Johnson; lieutenant Nate Kio; fire police captain Doug Goodrich and fire police lieutenant Denny Williams.
Roys presented the yearly service awards to Mark Sweigart with five years; William Bigley, Caleb Benson and Brandon Bliss with 10 years; Travis Rankin and Kyle Bachman with 20 years; Ryan Johnson with 25 years; Fred Roys, Doug Goodrich, and Max Mumford with 30 years; Dane Lane III with 35 years; Gary Caulkins, Dennis Williams and Tom Johnson with 45 years; and Milton Stebbins with 55 years.
Roys also presented the Sigred G. “Sig” Anderson Training Award to Michael Hill for his dedication to training in the spirit embodied by Sig Anderson. He had the most in-house hours and formal courses during the past year.
Jake Safford was also recognized for his in-house training hours.
