MOUNT JEWETT — The Mount Jewett Rotary Club hosted its sixth annual Chocolate Indulgence event on Saturday night at the Veterans Memorial Club in the borough.
Rotary Club president Erik A. Ross was pleased with the turnout saying, “there are a lot of people here and they really enjoy this. It’s a great event.”
This year, the Rotary partnered with Mount Jewett Boy Scout Troop 410 to help raise funds for their planned summer trip to Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, N.M. In previous years, the event proceeds have been used to provide financial assistance to the Mount Jewett Library, Mount Jewett Senior Center, the Swedish Festival and the Christmas Lighting Project.
The event drew more than 240 guests to indulge in 32 feet of buffet tables loaded with chocolate goodness.
“It is a great family-friendly event which includes live entertainment, a live auction, silent auction, dozens of door prizes and all the chocolate you can eat,” said Rotarian Bill Keesler.
During the event, a number of donated goods were auctioned off, including handmade goods from local carpenter Tom Geer who is also the Troop 410 Scout Master. Geer was thankful for the support of the Rotary in raising funds for this year’s trip and also for the generosity of the Mount Jewett Veterans Memorial Club for letting them use the building.
For those that missed the fun this year, consider supporting other Rotary fundraisers or attend a Rotary meeting to find out how to become involved in supporting the community.
The Mount Jewett Rotary Club meets at the Barrel House Restaurant at U.S. routes 219 and 6 at 6:15 p.m. every Wednesday unless otherwise noted. For more information about the Mount Jewett Rotary Club, contact David J. Malone at 814-778-5958 or via email at davensnook@verizon.net.
