VET JAM: Enjoy hours of local music today while helping Pennsylvania veterans.
The fifth annual VetJam will take place in the VFW Events Center on Barbour Street. Doors open at noon. Music begins at 1 p.m. and will last into the nighttime hours.
The event is organized each year by a handful of community members looking for a way to give back, and the VFW offers the space. Parking can be found in the Stony North parking lot.
The event, which will benefit the Pennsylvania Veterans Foundation, will feature a number of local musicians. Admission is a $5 donation for anyone with a proper ID. There will be a cash bar, and the VFW kitchen will be open.
Musicians scheduled to perform include Counterfeit, Deth Rattle, Vapor, Dog Day Sunrise, The Unknown, Remedy, Marshmellow Overcoat, The Inexpensive Winos and Blacklist, along with acoustic acts that will perform between sets.
2-1-1 DAY: Today is 2-1-1 Day, a day that bring awareness of the 2-1-1 phone number, launched in 1997 by the United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta. The number connects the caller with health and human services.

WINTER TREK: Then, on Sunday will be the Marilla Winter Trek from noon to 4 p.m. at the Marilla Reservoir, hosted each year by the Tuna Valley Trail Association.
Planned activities include cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, ice skating, ice fishing, geocaching and hiking; however, there is a chance of rain in the forecast, some of the activities may not be possible.
The event will be held regardless of weather conditions.
There will a bonfire and warm treats such as hot chocolate, mulled cider, hot dogs and marshmallows.
