A second student was arrested at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford this week after police found suspected marijuana in the apartment of a Panama, N.Y., man.
Christopher James Blose, 18, of 7295 Clymer Center Road, was arraigned Friday before District Judge Richard Luther on charges of possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance, a felony; possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, both misdemeanors, court records indicate.
According to court records, at 11 p.m. Thursday, University of Pittsburgh at Bradford Police were called to Walt Whitman House, Apt. 12, because of a smell of marijuana coming from the apartment. Once let into the common area of the apartment, an officer asked about the smell, and all the residents denied knowing anything about it.
He asked if the tenants would consent to a search, and they gave verbal consent. Before looking in the bedrooms, the officer gave the tenants the chance to bring any drug paraphernalia or contraband to him, and Blose brought out a clear glass bong, saying it was all he had, court records indicated.
Court records stated that when the officer looked in Blose’s room, he found an unlocked strong box on the floor that contained items, including $905, a clear plastic bag with suspected marijuana, a metal grinder, a scale, a pack of rolling papers, several clear plastic bags with suspected marijuana residue on it, a rubber vial with suspected marijuana hash/tar in it, a pocket knife and more.
Blose was committed to McKean County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail, and he is scheduled to appear in Central Court on Thursday.
On Monday, a student in Walt Whitman House, Apt. 11 — Donald Albritton of Philadelphia — was arrested under similar circumstances. Police did not indicate that the two cases were related.
