ST. MARYS — Gabe Kraus scored a game-high 19 points and three other Crusaders put double digit point totals in the book to lead unbeaten Elk Catholic to a 76-42 victory over DuBois Central Catholic in boys’ Allegheny Mountain League basketball action on Friday.
Backing Kraus were Ryan Newton with 15 points, Brad Dippold with 13 and Nate DaCanal with 12.
ECC put 19 points on the board in the first quarter and was up 43-17 at the half, putting the Crusaders well on the way to their 8th straight win of the season.
High scorer for the Cardinals was Thomas Grecco with 12 points.
Elk Catholic returns to action Tuesday hosting Punxsutawney in a District 9 League matchup.
Kane 95, Sheffield 53
KANE – Andrew Bucheit scored 43 points as Kane raced to its highest point output in nine years with an Allegheny Mountain League victory against visiting Sheffield.
Bucheit scored 21 in the second quarter for his career-high night, while the Wolves (5-2, 1-1 AML) topped 90 points for the first time since scoring 90 on back-to-back nights in January 2008.
The 43 points are the most individual tallies in a game for a Wolves’ player since John Bizzak torched Tidioute Charter for 46 in a 91-26 win.
The senior added 16 rebounds and six assists, while Davis Gardner had a double-double with 14 points, 12 rebounds and six assists.
Roger Dunham and Cameron Retterer had nine tallies each for the Wolverines.
