PORT ALLEGANY – A big second-half surge lifted the Lady Gators to a 40-33 victory over Galeton in the Port Allegany Holiday Tournament on Tuesday night.
After trailing by four heading into halftime, Port Allegany rode the hot shooting of Autumn Buchsenschutz, who scored a game-high 27 points, including four made treys. Hannah Lathrop finished with nine rebounds to go along with three points.
Makaya Shadle led the Lady Tigers with 13 points, 11 of which came at the free throw line.
“We played much better in the second half,” Port Allegany coach Jason Luther said. “We made adjustments defensively and we did what it took to win. We’re very proud of our team; playing back-to-back over the holidays, that’s not an easy thing to do.
