    Lady Hubbers defeat DuBois

SMETHPORT — Smethport High girls coach Eric Lutz refers to them as the “Big 3” and one thing is certain, they got the job done!

Emily Treat scored a game-high 20 points, Abbey Woodard dumped in 19 and Katie Treat added 13 tallies to lead the Lady Hubbers to a non-league 52-48 victory over DuBois High on Friday.

“Emily, Katie and Abbey did what is expected of them and the other kids all contributed in many different ways,” said Lutz.

“We did a nice job rebounding on the offensive boards … the girls played a complete ball game tonight. It was just an all around team win and I’m proud of them,” he added.

High scorer for the Lady Beavers was Ashley Hallowell with 17 points.

Smethport, now 2-0, returns to action Tuesday in its North Tier League opener at home with Northern Potter.

    Coudersport 67, Johnsonburg 44

ST. MARYS – Haley Keck poured in 28 points to lead Coudersport over Johnsonburg in the St. Marys Winter Tip-off Tournament Friday night.

Keck made 12 shots from the field and was a perfect four-for-four from the line. Ally Easton scored seven, pulled down 10 rebounds and swatted away five shots. Macy Gleason added 10 and dished out five assists.

“I thought we played with good energy especially in that second quarter,” Coudersport coach Chris Fink said. Nicole Myers led Johnsonburg with 16 points.

    Otto-Eldred 75, Oswayo Valley 23

DUKE CENTER — Camryn Thomas recorded a double-double and Otto-Eldred raced into the championship game of its girls Randy Stebbins Memorial Tournament with an easy 52-point win over Oswayo Valley on Friday.

Thomas scored 12 points and pulled down 12 rebounds for her double-double. She also had five steals.

Leading the Lady Terrors (3-1) in the scorebook was Ali Cousins with 15 points and three steals, while Emily Smith added 10 tallies.

“We have a deep bench and can go 10 deep with not much let off,” said Steve Bell, O-E assistant coach. “That was the difference in the game, but Oswayo hustled the whole game and never gave up.”

Otto-Eldred will play Portville in today’s girls championship game starting at 5 p.m. The girls consolation game will start at 2 p.m. and will feature Oswayo Valley and Sheffield.
