COUDERSPORT — Military veterans may still register to receive discounts on products and services from local businesses participating in the new Potter County Veterans Discount Program.
Bill Simpson, Potter County director of veterans affairs, has issued a special appeal to area businesses or service providers to join the ranks of those who have already signed up to offer discounts on products and services.
“This program has been a success, but we do believe that there are other business owners who would be eager to participate if they knew about it,” Simpson said. “Our businesses have shown time and time again that they support our veterans. This is a project that gives them a direct connection to the vets so they can show their appreciation.”
The discount program, modeled after a similar initiative launched two years ago in Indiana County, is administered by the county’s Veterans Service Committee, which includes director Simpson, Commissioner Paul Heimel, and executive secretary Dawn Wooster.
Under the program, merchants and professional service providers extend discounts — typically 10 percent or more — to Potter County veterans. Certain restrictions may apply. Businesses wishing to sign up or learn more about the program should call 814-274-8290, extension 207, or send email to dwooster@pottercountypa.net.
All participating businesses have their contact information and details of the discount offer listed on a brochure that’s distributed to Potter County veterans who sign up for the discount. They also receive window signs signifying that they are program participants.
