ROULETTE (EC) — Roulette Chemical Engine Co. #1, Station 46, was the latest recipient of the generosity of the Veterans Memorial Inc.
Patty Fabish, president of the VFW Auxiliary, and Rod Rees, Veterans Memorial Inc. Vice President and Commander of the Legion, gathered to help Veterans Memorial Inc. President and Commander of the Sons of the Legion Wayne Thomas present a check for $10,000 to Justin Fillhart, fire chief; Brad Tucker, second assistant; and David Lacher, third assistant. Veterans Memorial Inc. has recently donated $10,000 to the World War II Museum in Eldred; Star Hose Fire Co. #1, Port Allegany Ambulance Service; and $5,000 to the Recreation Authority and the Shriners.
In addition, the group purchased two new flagpoles — one for Port Allegany High School and the other for Port Allegany Elementary School, as well as a new popcorn machine for the Varsity Club at Port Allegany High School.
In response to the donation, Fillhart said, “This much-needed donation is welcomed by the Roulette Chemical Engine Co. #1 to help replace outdated communications equipment. The funds will be split between the radio and pager replacements and the truck fund to help with the future replacement of the fire apparatus that is well over 20 years old.”
