The community is invited to attend a public open house regarding bridge projects in Derrick City and Foster Township from 4 to 6 p.m. Dec. 14 at the Foster Township Building on East Main Street.
The open house involves looking at the bridges included in the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation Rapid Bridge Replacement Project.
Organizers said the session will be focused on important information, including the construction schedule and traffic changes that are planned to take effect while the bridges are being replaced.
The bridges in question include the Route 346 (Derrick Road) bridge, which spans Foster Brook in Foster Township, about three miles east of Bradford; Route 346 (Derrick Road) bridge, spanning Foster Brook in Derrick City; and Route 646 (Olean Road) bridge, spanning Pennbrook Run in Foster Township, about a mile north of the village of Gilmore.
Representatives from Plenary Walsh Keystone Partners will be available to discuss the bridge projects and answer questions. There will be no formal presentation. Construction plans will be on display for reference.
The bridges are referred to as JV-65, JV-66 and JV-67. They are three of 558 bridges being replaced under the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project. JV references the joint-venture partnership between Walsh/Granite, which is leading construction for the entire project, according to PennDOT officials.
The public-private partnership between PennDOT and Plenary Walsh includes the fiance, design, replacement and maintenance of the bridges for 25 years. The approach allows PennDOT to replace the bridges more quickly, while achieving significant savings and minimizing impact on motorists.
