ROULETTE — A child who was struck by a vehicle Saturday during the Roulette Township Halloween parade is in stable condition, said Sweden Township Police Chief Bryan Phelps.
On Sunday afternoon, Phelps said, “A minor child was on a float — a trailer — being towed by a pick-up truck, and the child fell from the trailer and under the wheel of it and was run over.”
A Roulette Township ambulance was directly behind the float in the parade, and, upon seeing what happened, “immediately scooped up the child” and transported him to Cole Memorial Hospital in Coudersport, according to Phelps.
Family members of the child who were at the scene went with the ambulance.
The child was transported via medical helicopter from Cole Memorial to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, “where he’s listed in stable condition,” Phelps said.
Phelps explained the accident occurred around noon at the start of the parade, and it was the child’s father who was driving the pick-up truck.
Phelps does not believe charges will be filed, but noted the accident is still under investigation by another officer, Patrolman White.
