SMETHPORT — A Rixford man who pleaded guilty on Thursday in McKean County Court to a Megan’s Law violation will serve time in state prison.
Robert A. Newland, 34, pleaded guilty to one charge of failure to verify address/be photographed.
According to a representative of the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office, on July 12, a parole agent went to the home where Newland, a Tier 3 offender who is a lifetime registrant as a sex offender, was supposedly living, and was told by witnesses they had not seen him in weeks. Newland failed to report his new address and was later found to be living in Bradford.
Newland will serve two to eight years in state prison with credit for 82 days of time served.
Also in court, Nicholas S. McConkey of Smethport will serve 18 months to four years in state prison with credit for 203 days of time served and a term of 12 months of probation for two counts of possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance and one count each of conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance and false identification to a law enforcement officer. He pleaded guilty Oct. 6 to allegations that on April 7-8, while McConkey was under surveillance by the McKean County Drug Task Force in Eldred, he possessed with the intent to deliver heroin and methamphetamine, and he conspired with Stephanie Cossairt to deliver drugs. Also, McConkey told police his name was Nicholas Barnes and gave them a false Social Security number.
Randy L. Bunce, 47, of Bradford, will serve six months to two years in state prison with credit for 104 days of time served on charges of resisting arrest, driving under the influence of alcohol and summary charges. He pleaded guilty Oct. 6 to allegations that on July 16, Bunce operated an all-terrain vehicle after imbibing alcohol, but refused a blood test; then he put Bradford City Police Officer Richard Obermeyer at risk by resisting arrest.
Chris C. Caldwell, 29, of Eldred, will serve six to 23 ½ months in McKean County Jail with credit for 96 days of time served and 12 months of probation on charges of simple assault and possession of a controlled substance. On July 23, Caldwell put his his hands around a female’s neck and threw her to the ground, and he possessed 3 ½ Clonazepam tablets, according to information he pleaded guilty to on Oct. 7.
Dustin M. Schermerhorn, 27, of Gifford, will serve six to 18 months in McKean County Jail with credit for 69 days of time served and pay restitution of $2,691.58 on charges of criminal trespassing and criminal mischief. He pleaded guilty Sept. 22 to allegations that in August, he broke into Stony North in Bradford, where he was formerly employed.
Jonathan J. Johnson, 29, of Bradford, will serve three to 18 months in McKean County Jail with credit for 10 days of time served on charges of terroristic threats and disorderly conduct. On March 22, he threatened to commit violence and engaged in threatening behavior, according to information he pleaded guilty to on Aug. 11.
Matthew J. Howard, 22, of Bradford, will serve three months to one year of incarceration with 78 days of credit for time served on a charge of disorderly conduct. Court records filed at the time he was first arrested indicated that on Aug. 2, Howard threatened a man with a knife during a confrontation.
Kyle A Dewyer, 26, of Bradford, will serve 18 months of probation on a charge of resisting arrest.
Christopher J. Sebastian, 25, of Shinglehouse, will serve 18 months of probation on a charge of theft by unlawful taking.
Bradley M. Tubbs, 21, of Eldred, will serve 12 months of probation and pay $3,234.59 in restitution on a charge of theft of leased property.
Stephon J. Edwards, 25, of Cyclone, pleaded guilty to a charge of false identification to law enforcement officials. According to Assistant District Attorney Sean Barrett, on July 20, 2015, Edwards told Bradford City police that his name was Montel Edwards.
Billie Jo Conner, 39, of Bradford, will serve one year of probation on a charge of resisting arrest.
Jeffrey A. Buterbaugh, 41, of Lewis Run, will serve one year of probation on a charge of criminal mischief.
Austin J. Tankersley, 22, of East Smethport, will serve one year of probation on charges of marijuana-small amount for personal use, possession of drug paraphernalia and summary charges.
Todd W. Warham, 32, of Kane, will serve nine months of probation on a charge of possession of a controlled substance.
Elizabeth R. Dowell, 51, of Shinglehouse, will serve six months of probation on a charge of bad checks.
